Jewelry Designs For Sale - June 2009 - Part 3

While you are reading this, I will be out of town. I have posted this on a delay time posting. I am going to our cabin for Friday/Saturday and than on Saturday evening through Tuesday I will spending time up with my Dad. Emily is going with and she will get the chance to spend time with some of her 1st and 2nd cousins up in Upsala, Minnesota, where I grew up. My Dad's wife is going to be in Ohio for two weeks with her family and since my Dad is 86 and I don't get to see them alot, I offered to go up and spend several days with him while Ginny is out of town.

I will bringing my jewelry design elements with me, so it will be a working get away which most of my get aways usually are. I almost always have a stash of jewlery work with me, wherever and whenever I travel. It's usually on my mind.

This post is a mix of designs that are for sale and some sold recently at "The French Flea" shop in Anoka. Its a great shop I'm privileged in being a part of, so if you have the chance please come and visit it. For purchasing either contact me at gretchen.schaumann@comcast.net or if these don't sell they will be available in July at "The French Flea" sale.
Design 1
(SOLD - FF)

I just love this necklace. It would be a great addition to anyone's jewelry stash, but especially fun to wear during the upcoming holiday (4th of July celebrations). I'm not into the holiday clothing apparel yet, but this would be fun to wear with a plain colored shirt.
Love the silver tone of this piece too. The chain is a vintage nice heavy chain. The focal portion starts out with this wonderful Liberty lightweight coin. I've added a found element crown over the existing crown to add some dimension to the piece. From the back their is a menagarie of beautiful dangles in red/white and blue.

Close-up of the Liberty medallion (light weight) as well as the embellishment of the crown piece.

This photo allows you to see each of the seperate charms that flow

down to make the great mixture of elements that create this piece.

(Available)

The focal on this piece is a gorgeous vintage floral piece. I have paired it with 3 large semi precious faceted round blue quartz beads. One of these blue quartz beads set off the large focal and connect it to a vintage gold rhinestone roundelle bead that is what the chain is attached to.

Center portion showing how the chain connects
to the rhinestone roundelle and the blue quartz.

This photo shows the chain portion of the necklace with the pearls and blue quartz beads.

It is a very long necklace style, so could be layered with other necklaces or worn plain.
This photos shows the chain portion of the design.

Design 3
(SOLD - JB)

This silvertone medallion style necklace is more simple than most. One needs to keep lots of styles in mind while designing, as everyone likes different things.

This necklace is a mix of silver tone and also has a thin chain of gold tone and an
Eiffel tower in gold tone. The focal medallion shield and tassel are silver tone.

Design 4
(Available)

Entire necklace shown here is not my typical style of designs, but being from Minnesota, there is definetly a calling for outdoorsy type of jewelry. There are a lot of women that fish and hunt in this great state, so this design is a tribute to those that do.

Close-up of the fish themed necklace.
It is gold tone with verdigris accents as well as black.

Very nice heavy vintage chain is used in this

design with black vintage bead accents.

Design 5
(SOLD)
Lots of charm drops fall from the circle focal to create this lovely piece.

Love the cowboy hat and rhinestone accents on it.

Double strands of chain with pearls inset create the chain on this piece.

Design 6

(SOLD - Custom)

A Swedish chandelier crystal with words on the back show forth magnified.
The wording (pre cious, sentimental, priceless, price less, invaluable).

Details!

The chain in this piece was sterling silver with white
round reshwater pearls and vintage faceted squarish crystals.

Design 7
(Sold)

This gold tone necklace was really cool.

All of these vintage elements including the brass key, brown bead, vintage white floral piece and button along with the found gold tone elements such as the filigree floral heart, Fleur de lis, and large oval connector truly make this a one-of-a-kind piece that is so netural it could be worn againa, and again and again.

This portion of the focal is almost all vintage elements.

The bottom portion of the focal.

Unique closure of this neckalce consists of hand wire wrapped hook and connectors
as well as a mother of pearl circle and a cute mirror style drop off of the closure.

Design 8
(SOLD)

Love the mixture of silver tone with black on this piece.
A vintage book charm with a shell cameo is the focal of this piece.
A mixture of vintage white, crystal and milky glass beads make this design special.

This design chain was assymetrical. One side had the silver tone thick chain and the other had a mixture of vintage beads wire wrapped into it.

Clasp on this design.

mix of silver and gold elements used in its design.

This is a wonderful vintage crystal prism.

This photo shows the two styles of chains used in the design of this necklace.
Design 3
(Available)
Full view of this gold tone necklace shows that it is 2 strands. The shortest strand consists of the tassel portion and the longest strand has the wonderful vintage working purse with the vintage found element added to it to pull the overall look together.
Detailed shot of the tassel portion strand as well as the second strands chain/pearl detailing.
Adorable purse.
Design 4
(SOLD -JB)
This is a lovely beachy themed gold tone necklace. It has lots of found elements that make up this design. Again it is an asymmetrical design, thus the two different styles of chain. There is a fabulous vintage hand cut crystal bead that connects the chain to the focal portion of the necklace. See photos below for more detailed descriptions of the rest of the focal.

Wonderful hand cut crystal piece mentioned above is the connector of the chain to the focal.

Gorgeous focal is made up a vintage mother of pearl shell set into a gold ton setting with an oval set in tiny portion of detailed shells. I then attached another wonderful vintage pin portion that is the lovely palm trees on the right portion of the pin. From this focal there is a charm portion with a shell, gold dipped sand dollar and another found element in gold. Lovely piece.

Design 5
(SOLD -JB)

I decided to use a mix of copper pieces to create this necklace. Most of the elements are new with an exception of the vintage black button base and the mother of pearl vintage button that has been used as the main portion of the focal. There are some wonderful copper design elements available in the open market such as these that were used on this design. I try to meet the desires of a broad base of people, so thought I'd try a few copper designs mixed with vintage elements.

This new copper chain is a really nice chain and gives the piece a clean look.
Design 6
(Available)

This is the other copper necklace I created to test out the interest with. I love how this is a mix of copper, reds and coral tones, with the mother of pearl to balance it all out.

I tarted out this focal with the wonderful patinaed red/coral vintage belt buckle, than layered a mother of pearl button, a redish/coral button, another mother of pearl button and finally the copper crown piece on top. This focal connects to the main portion of chain by a an oval copper ring which has a Fleur de leis in the center dangling from the oval.

The chain portion has an asymmetrical look to it, with found elements of metal pieces of coral attached to it on one side of the chain. The other side of the chain has a metal coral branch, copper bird, and copper floral pieces connected into that side of the chain.

This shows the clasp closure of the coral and copper necklace.

Lauren Conrad and Mimi-Toria's Jewelry

Good Morning! Those of you that have teenagers or young adults would be aware of whom Lauren Conrad is. For those of you that don't I'll fill you in. She was the main actress on the weekly show called "The Hills" based out of California and it has been very successful. Lauren is a fashion designer and has her own line of clothing in addition to her popularity through filming this show about her life. After many years of having a camera follow her around on a daily basis, she has decided to pursue some different interests and have a bit more privacy in her life. She has quite a following indeed, so most recently wrote a book about her life and is currently on tour doing a book signing. Thus the event I am writing about came to be yesterday on Fathers Day at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. My husband, Jon had to fly out to Chicago on Fathers Day, so Emily and I dropped him off at the airport and proceeded to go to the book signing Lauren was scheduled to do at 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Rotunda in the Mall.
Book Signing by Lauren Conrad
500+ people were ahead of us for the signing process.
Lauren was quick signing, but very friendly and personable.
It was great to see someone this famous, being so sweet.
We arrived around 1:15 and the crowd was quite large already. They had give out the 400 wristbands that guaranteed you would get your book of Lauren's signed during the signing period. However, there was an additional line down the hallway that was being formed in case she had time to sign more books, which we quickly got into. We were about number 550 for book signing. Contemplating whether we should wait or go shopping, we decided to stay. I went and bought her book for Emily and Emily held our place in line. Only the individuals that actually purchased the books could get onto the stage for the actual signing of books.
Lauren being friendly while signing her fans books.

Emily giving Lauren Conrad from "The Hills" jewelry that I designed.
Being a jewelry designer, I decided to give Lauren a gift from my Mimi-toria's Jewelry designs. I thought since she's a fashion designer she might appreciate this gesture and it would be a fun thing for Emily to be able to do as well. Emily is my daughter and she's in this photo giving Lauren the jewelry. Lauren was so sweet, and genuinely seemed to appreciate the gifts. We put it in a an ivory organza bag along with my business card. So Lauren, if you happen to be reading this blog about yourself, you can now know what a thrill you gave my daughter yesterday when she met you. Thanks for your time!

The necklace we gave to her in full view.

This is the necklace that Emily presented to Lauren. An "L" for Lauren, a crown for a princess and a bird to represent her taking flight in a new direction in her life. The pearls in the chain are a sweet addition which Lauren showed a lot of during this book signing. She signed for 2 hours straight with a 5 minute break to use the bathroom and stretch a bit.

A closeup of the elements in this necklace we gifted Lauren.

"Time Stands Still" funky ring we gave Lauren as well.

The smile on Emily's face is priceless, while Lauren is signing her book.

This will be a fun day to remember for both of us.

Leading up to the Actual Book Signing

Emily patiently waiting for her turn behind a young gal that we visited with while in line. She was here from Tennessee for the summer and was fortunate to be able to be a part of this event in Minnesota.
New friends we visited with while waiting in line. They were right ahead of us and had moved to Minnesota just 1 1/2 years ago from Tennessee. Visiting made the time go faster, for sure.

Emily and her friend, Kelly, just to the right in this photo are finally on the stage to get their books signed. Ahhhh, patience is a virtue!

Kelly, is from Emily's class in school and joined us in line
waiting and gets her book signed in this photo.

Kelly (left), Sharkey, and Emily (right) have a photo opp while waiting in line.
Sharkey is the mascot for "Underwater World", a tourist attraction at the MOA.

A random fan getting her book signed.
After the Book Signing

We left for Rotunda area for 1/2 hour after the girls got their books signed. Kelly went home. Emily and I then walked back over to see what was going on at the book signing, since we needed to take the escalator upstairs near there. Lauren had about 10 people left to sign their books, so we waited a bit outside of the roped off area and than saw her leaving. This is the photo I shot while she was exiting the stage area. She's such a gracious girl to her fans.

We didn't follow her out, but I did take this photo of the mob that did. Lauren is two people up from the security guard on the left bottom and one person over in the grey shirt. It got more jammed as they walked down the hall towards the exit. Lots of flashes going off and fans trailing behind her. Its a wonder she's opting for more privacy in her future life after her book tour.

The empty Rotunda area after the book signing was finished.

Just a 1/2 hour earlier there were hundreds of fans waiting and lined up.

Emily and I went to Starbucks and shared a nice cold smoothie and than did a little bit of shopping before heading home to a fulfilled day. We each got our favorite take-out food, rented a movie and watched it together. What a fun day we had! I sure do love my girl!
